Hello. My name is Judy and I hate housework.
Well, I don’t precisely hate it, I just don’t love it and I don’t do it as much as my mother would like, but she’s a dear and doesn’t say anything. Then again, she doesn’t visit me much, either.
I am fortunate to have a wonderful husband of 20 years. He has only a slightly lower tolerance for cleaning than I do. This works out very well … and he pitches in, which I greatly appreciate.
I occasionally do get a bee in my bonnet and attack something. Sometimes it is a whole room. This summer I conscripted the kids and we cleaned the living room from top to bottom in one day. Sometimes my enthusiasm only goes as far as a part of a room. For example, last week I thoroughly cleaned one corner of my kitchen counter…the one with all the canisters.
I have a 14-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son. They haven’t yet pointed out that it is unfair for mom to demand that they clean their rooms when mom is so remiss in this category. I realize it won’t last much longer, but I’m enjoying it for as long as it lasts.
My best excuse for not doing housework is my business, Wellspring Creations. During the week, I work at home creating with wire and hunting down rare stones from around the world to wire wrap into artisan jewelry. A lot of my time is devoted to the tons of computer work required to maintain a business and manage my online stores. Most weekends I have a booth at a variety of outdoor markets where I sell the jewelry. Wellspring Creations is more than a full time job and I love it.
Inspiration can come at any hour of the day and, frequently, the night. When I finish a piece with which I am happy, I love to share the moment with my Twitter friends and on my blog at http://WellspringCreations.blogspot.com.
